REGULATIONS
1. Read all the
posts carefully.
It may involve your character or provide information that your
character can - or needs - to use. If a superior officer gives an order
that involves you or your department, assume that you you or your
department has been notified 'off screen'.
2. Follow the chain of command.
If you are uncertain about something, ask your Department Chief.
If the Department Chief is uncertain about something, he will ask the
First Officer. If the First Officer is uncertain, he will ask the
Captain. This is to be followed at all times. The only exception to this
procedure is if an officer higher up in the chain asks you about
something. Eg. if the Captain asks an Ensign about any problems they
might be having, it's ok to bypass the chain of command and speak
directly with the Captain.
3. If you haven't been ordered to do something outside your normal
duties, don't do it.
Get your superior's permission first if you want to do it.
4. The Captain will enforce procedures on the USS Scorpion.
This means that your character will be held responsible for their
actions. From now on, everything that is written in character may very
well be reacted to, and will have consequences for your character, good
or bad. Along with promotions, there will be demotions if necessary.
Extreme cases will result in extreme measures. Eg. reassignment off the
ship (create a new character) or court martial, etc. Likewise,
'battlefield promotions' of rank or position will occur if the situation
warrants it.
Special Note: good role-playing of your character can include involvement
in disciplinary actions.
5. Experience carries on to new characters.
If your character leaves the ship or dies as part of your role-playing,
your new character starts off with the experience points that the
previous character gained during play.
6. Chat rooms are a great tool for joint posts.
You can visit the Rebellion Chat Room here:
http://www.startrek-rebellion.com/chat/
The chats that you have can be 'in character', and the results can be
your posts. You can copy the conversations / posts you are having into
Notepad or email and edit then send to the mailing list. It's also
a great means of getting to know the other players. The chat channel
#Scorpion is available, along with the channels for other ships within
Star Trek: Rebellion.
7. Each player must fulfill their posting requirements, which are:
All players must post at least once per week.
Every player must be a member of the USS Scorpion forum and visit it
often and regularly. Out-of-game discussions will be held here.
PROMOTIONS
Promotions are handled
on a point system. Each time you post or contribute to a story
line you get points. Each week these points are totalled and added
to your total and this will be posted on the list as well as on a page
at the site which will be updated weekly. Below is a list of how
many points are rewarded for various actions and a list of ranks and how
many points are required to be promoted to those ranks. For
example when a Lt. (JG) reached 800 points he/she will be promoted to
full Lt. It should be noted that a post must be of around 200
words or more to qualify for ranking points.

For each week that a
character has not made a single post, it will receive a minus point (eg.
-1). When the minus points reaches -4, that character will either
become an NPC, be transferred or killed off, and the player will be
removed from the mailing list. If a character has minus points,
each week of posts will give a positive point. Eg. if the
character is on -3 points, then 2 weeks of regular postings will reduce
it to -1, and so on.
This will be one of the
incentives to post (the others being experience points towards
promotions, as well as the enjoyment of playing your character).
If anyone fails to post after 4 subsequent weeks, it will be assumed
(and acted upon) that the player does not wish to play any more.
The only exceptions will be
written requests for a Leave Of Absence (LOA). This will give you
positive points equal to the number of weeks you have requested a LOA.
Once they are gone, it will go into the minus points unless postings are
made or an extended LOA is requested.
