The following is a rough outline of how points are awarded. The CO may award extra points at his discretion for outstanding posts. Points are awarded based on content and length. Content includes posts having to do with the main story line, sub-plots, personal or duty logs, social affairs, etc. (Interpretation of 'quality posts' is up to the CO.)
This will be one of the incentives to post (the others being experience points towards promotions, as well as the enjoyment of playing your character). If anyone fails to post after 4 subsequent weeks, it will be assumed (and acted upon) that the player does not wish to play any more. The only exceptions will be written requests for a Leave Of Absence (LOA). This will give you positive points equal to the number of weeks you have requested a LOA. Once they are gone, it will go into the minus points unless postings are made or an extended LOA is requested.
Promotions are handled on a point system. Each time you post or contribute to a story line you get points. Each week these points are totalled and added to your total and this will be posted on the list as well as on a page at the site which will be updated weekly. Below is a list of how many points are rewarded for various actions and a list of ranks and how many points are required to be promoted to those ranks. For example when a Lt. (JG) reached 800 points he/she will be promoted to full Lt. It should be noted that a post must be of around 200 words or more to qualify for ranking points.
